Kinect Joy Ride

Big Park (Microsoft)

Overview

This was the first project that I worked one after joining the Big Park (Microsoft) crew. Kinect Joy Ride was the first game from this studio, and a launch title for the Kinect hardware on the Xbox 360. You could only play this game using the Kinect, using your arms held out as if you were holding an invisible steering wheel. This provided a fun challenge for us designing the UI to be controlled using your hands and hand gestures alone.

User Interface

Similar to designing games for the Nintendo Wii, designing for the Kinect required the use of fairly large buttons to ensure they were easily reached and clickable using your hands as a cursor.
